Dan 'Jungleman' Cates Calls Out Phil Hellmuth Over Ultimate Bet Scandal

In a surprising turn of events, Dan 'Jungleman' Cates has called out Phil Hellmuth over his involvement in the Ultimate Bet scandal. Cates tweeted that Hellmuth supported things that turned out to be scandals, mentioning Ultimate Bet as an example. This comes as a response to Hellmuth's comments on the recent cheating accusations aimed at several high-profile poker players.

Phil Hellmuth tweeted that the recent cheating accusations have damaged poker and will scare away millions of players. He stated, "These guys have damaged poker. Their scandals will scare away millions of players (esp online players)."

Ultimate Bet was involved in a superuser cheating scandal in the early-mid noughties, where players lost millions as Russ Hamilton used and handed out God-mode access. Hellmuth, who was an Ultimate Bet sponsored pro at the time, claims he was the man who effectively launched the investigation into the scandal. However, this claim has been met with skepticism from many in the industry. Matt Berkey commented on the issue, stating that poker would be bigger if Ultimate Bet had never existed. Dan Cates admitted to ghosting in a private game involving Bill Perkins, and later apologized for his actions.
