Brian Hastings Wins WSOP Bracelet Amidst Controversy with Alexey Makarov
Brian Hastings won his second WSOP bracelet in a 10-game series tournament. However, his victory was marred by a controversy involving Alexey Makarov. Hastings accused Makarov of trying to 'angle shoot' during a final table, a term that refers to exploiting loopholes in the rules for personal gain.
Makarov disputed the accusation, stating that he was merely questioning a misdeal. He claimed that a dealer's error led to a misdeal, and he was simply pointing it out. Hastings, however, believed that Makarov was trying to take advantage of the situation.
The controversy escalated when David 'Bakes' Baker criticized Hastings for his actions. Baker cited a previous incident involving Hastings, where he allegedly played under a different name in a SCOOP final table. Hastings did not respond to Baker's accusations.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
