BetRivers Poker Poised to Lead Maine's Online Poker Market
Maine has become the latest US state to legalize online poker, joining a select group of smaller states with regulated real money games. With a population of just 1.4 million, Maine is one of the smallest states to offer online poker, raising questions about which operator can make it successful. BetRivers Poker has already signaled its interest in the Maine market, citing its experience in smaller jurisdictions.
Under Maine’s new framework, exclusive igaming rights are granted to the state’s four federally recognized tribes. Each tribe can select a single online platform provider, similar to the structure in Delaware where BetRivers powers online gaming for multiple locations under a single statewide system. This structure could allow up to four separate operators to launch online poker in Maine, depending on how partnerships are structured.
BetRivers Poker is currently live in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Delaware, and West Virginia, with a New Jersey launch expected next. The operator has demonstrated success in smaller states like Delaware and West Virginia, significantly increasing online poker revenue. BetRivers views poker as a driver of ecosystem stability, not just an incremental revenue stream, and has programs like the Rakeback Revolution to incentivize cross-vertical activity.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
