Barcelona Poker Championship: Success Despite Terror Attack
The Barcelona poker tournament was marked by a terrorist attack during the first days of the championship. Despite this tragic event, the tournament proceeded successfully with thousands of participants.
The most massive tournament was the National Championship with a buy-in of €1,100 and a guarantee of €4,000,000. Over 3,625 participants made 4,557 entries in just four starting days. Due to high demand, seats for days 1B and 1C were filled long before the game began, leaving many eager players unable to participate.
TylerRM, a notable figure, chose not to play the main tournament and instead visited a Michelin-starred restaurant, Dos Cielos. He enjoyed a variety of dishes and wines, describing the experience as a unique culinary adventure. The PokerStars Cup with a buy-in of €330 was won by Sander van Veenmael from the Netherlands, who defeated 2,647 opponents. Sander has a specialization in such tournaments, having won the PokerStars Cup in Marbella in June and Lille in July.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
