Bank of America Blocks Daniel Negreanu's Account for a Month

Legendary poker player Daniel Negreanu, one of the most successful players in the world, recently found himself in a predicament when Bank of America blocked his business account for 30 days without explanation. Negreanu took to his Twitter page to share the news, posting a letter from the bank about the account blockage. He believed that the bank blocked his account due to his high poker earnings.

In his tweet, Negreanu wrote, “Information for all poker players who use Bank of America. They randomly blocked my business account without explanation and without the possibility of appeal for 30 days for 'suspicious activity.' Now I'm looking for a more poker-friendly bank.”

Negreanu's post sparked support from fellow poker players. Bill Perkins and Joe Hachem, both prominent figures in the poker community, commented on the issue, noting that professionals often face similar problems not only in the USA but also internationally.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
