Antonio Esfandiari: Poker is a Game of Skill, Not Luck

Poker player Antonio Esfandiari sat down with controversial radio host Howard Stern to discuss his career, strategy, and personal life. Howard Stern is known for his vulgarity and lack of political correctness, and his show has received the most fines in American radio history. Since 2006, Stern's show has been on Sirius Radio, which is not subject to federal communication regulations due to its subscription-based model.

Esfandiari became a professional poker player at the age of 24 or 25, after working as a waiter, magician, and real estate agent. He won $18 million in a single poker tournament, and has earned a total of $23 million in his poker career. Esfandiari believes that poker is a game of skill, not luck, and that the outcome of a hand depends on how the cards are played, not just the cards themselves.

Esfandiari also discussed his transition from professional magician to poker player. He explained that he became a magician because he was shy and had difficulty talking to women. He used magic tricks to help him open up and connect with others. Esfandiari has a life coach who helps him maintain calm and concentration during poker games. He believes that poker is a game of skill, not luck, and that the outcome of a hand depends on how the cards are played, not just the cards themselves.
