From Counter-Strike to Poker: Angier's Journey Through Cyber Sports
Angier's journey in the world of cyber sports began during his school years in Monino, where he started playing Counter-Strike 1.6. His passion for the game led him to become deeply involved in the cyber sports community, eventually transitioning into journalism.
Angier's first job was as a journalist on a cyber sports website, where he earned around $300 per month. He worked on various projects, including a large article about elemeNt and several significant interviews. One of his most memorable interviews was with Alexander “KALbI4” Grivov, a member of the team that won the World Cyber Games (WCG) in 2002.
Angier's career in cyber sports journalism also included attending major events like the ESWC championship in Paris. At this event, he worked as a journalist and team manager, meeting influential figures such as Anton “Cooller” Singov, a legendary Quake player. His transition from cyber sports journalism to poker was influenced by the increasing popularity of games like DotA and LoL, which brought significant changes to the industry.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
