Andrey Zaichenko's Colossus Tournament Experience at WSOP 2018
Andrey Zaichenko participated in the Colossus tournament during the World Series of Poker 2018. He started the second day with a stack of about 1.5 times the average, which was a decent position given the unique composition of the tournament field.
Zaichenko mentioned a notable hand where he folded 9x 9x after significant action from other players. The hand highlighted the unpredictable nature of the tournament and the diverse skill levels of the participants. He played against well-known players like Zamani, Sofia Umerova, and Bah, which added to the complexity of the tournament.
During a critical moment, Zaichenko showed his stack to a chip leader, who then played a limp instead of raising. This strategic move helped Zaichenko secure a crucial win. He also had a hand with Q4o where he checked and then went all-in on the flop, doubling his stack. However, he had a hand with KQo where he folded, missing out on a potential triple-up. Despite these challenges, Zaichenko went all-in with J8s and won against A3o, securing his position in the top 81. He managed to build his stack back up to around 600,000 chips, allowing him to play more aggressively.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
