AGA Predicts Record Betting on March Madness 2022
The American Gaming Association (AGA) predicts that over 45 million Americans will bet on March Madness 2022. This year, there is more potential to wager in the United States than ever before, with a significant increase in online and in-person sportsbook betting. The AGA predicts that 76 percent of bets will be placed online or in-person at sportsbooks, up from 55 percent last year.
Gamblers will stake $3.1 billion in the NCAA tournament this year, according to the findings. The AGA anticipates over 20 million people will wager on outside bracket competitions at a retail sportsbook, online, via a bookie, or with friends.
According to the AGA, the amount gamblers believe they'll stake via brackets is down almost 70% this year compared to 2021. The NCAA bracket, a long-standing wagering fixture for the basketball tournament, has dwindled in popularity.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
