WSOP Main Event 2016: The Final Day Unfolds with 27 Players

The 2016 WSOP Main Event had 6,737 participants from 79 countries, making it the fifth largest in WSOP history. The average age of the participants was 40 years, with the oldest participant being 95-year-old William Wachter. The longest-lasting female player was Gaelle Boumann, who reached 102nd place.

The final day of the WSOP Main Event began with 27 players. Leading the pack was Wojciech Ruzicka with 26,415,000 chips. Other notable players included Michael Ruane with 24,565,000 chips and Cliff 'JohnnyBax' Josephy with 23,860,000 chips. The game resumed at a level of 100,000/200,000/30,000 with an average stack of approximately 60 blinds.

James Obst, known for his strategic play, made significant moves early on. In the 10th hand, he received aces against an opponent's kings and sent them to the 26th place. After winning a few more hands, he rose to the second position, trailing only Cliff Josephy. However, Michael Ruane's strategic play in the 18th hand, which lasted 18 minutes and remained without a showdown, ultimately led to Obst's elimination from the top positions.
