Panic at WSOP: False Shooting Alarm Causes Chaos in Las Vegas
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas was disrupted by a false shooting alarm, causing widespread panic among players and attendees. The alarm led to a chaotic situation where players and spectators were evacuated, and the police quickly debunked the rumors, but the panic continued.
The disturbance was caused by a man who was ejected from the MGM Grand casino earlier that day. The man returned and threw rocks at the entrance, causing the alarm. All bracelet tournaments were stopped and resumed the next day, but daily deepstacks continued immediately.
Ryan Andrade lost his stack but managed to finish 8th in a $400 tournament, earning $970. Christian Harder expressed relief at surviving the incident, calling it the scariest moment of his life. Alex Foxen joked about a photo from the poker room during the panic, noting that Daniel Negreanu was holding a selfie stick. Mustafa Kanit commented that the safest place in Vegas during the panic was under a poker table.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
