Poker Dealer Shares Insights from His First WSOP Experience
A poker dealer with six years of experience recently shared his insights from working at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) for the first time.
The dealer, who has been in the industry for six years, started his WSOP journey in tournaments but quickly switched to cash games. He mentioned that dealers at WSOP earn $40 per hour in tournaments and $50 in mixed games, while in cash games they earn $10 per hour plus tips. The dealer expects to earn $16k-18k after expenses for the entire WSOP series.
One of the highlights of his experience was dealing with Jamie Gold, who was surprisingly generous. Despite being in a losing streak, Gold gave tips even when he was losing. The dealer also noted that the most unpleasant players are often European, but most are reasonable. He learned to deal by watching YouTube videos and practicing at home, which he found to be an effective method.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
