Poker Community Divided Over WSOP 2020 Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The 51st World Series of Poker (WSOP) was scheduled to take place from May 26 to July 15, 2020, at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The event, one of the most prestigious poker tournaments globally, attracts a vast number of participants, from casual players to seasoned professionals.

Seth Palkanski, WSOP's vice president of corporate communications, stated that the organization is taking its time to decide on the event's fate. "We are not rushing, we are still considering the plan. There is no need to make a decision right now," Palkanski said, adding that the situation is changing rapidly, and they are closely monitoring it to make a final decision.

John Sinn, the 2018 WSOP Main Event champion, sparked a discussion on Twitter about the necessity of immediate decision-making regarding the WSOP. Sinn questioned why people are pressuring the organizers to make a quick decision about the event's fate. "Why are people insisting on canceling events 2-3 months in advance?" Sinn tweeted. "I don't see anything wrong with waiting a month, as things can change significantly in a couple of weeks, and if they don't, they can always cancel the series at any time."
