WSOP 2020 Concludes with Major Wins and Losses
The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has come to a close, marking a series of significant events and achievements. Stoyan Madanzhiev emerged as the champion of the Main Event, securing a prize of $3,904,686. Madanzhiev's victory was particularly notable as he faced off against Wenling Gao in the heads-up round, who narrowly missed becoming the first woman to win a WSOP Main Event.
Manu Saavedra also made a strong showing, finishing in 24th place and taking home $79,625. Another highlight of the WSOP was Connor Drinan's victory in a side bet against Daniel Negreanu, earning him an additional $100,000. The bet was centered around whether either player could win a bracelet during the series.
Adrián Mateos had a remarkable week, winning two titles at the WCOOP 2020. He first secured the event 28-H for $80,211 and followed it up with a win in the Super High Roller event for $543,685. Unfortunately, the poker community also mourned the loss of Mike Sexton, a legendary player and commentator, who passed away due to prostate cancer.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
