WSOP 2014: New Schedule and Changes Announced

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2014 series will commence on May 27, with a total of 65 bracelets to be won. Thirteen bracelets will be awarded to champions of events with a $10,000 buy-in. Additionally, a $25,000 mix-max event, a $50,000 players championship, and the One Drop super high roller tournament with a $1,000,000 buy-in will be held.

One of the notable changes is the introduction of a PLO tournament with a $1,000 buy-in, which will be held for the first time at WSOP. The winner of the #8 Millionaire Maker tournament with a $1,500 buy-in will receive at least $1,000,000. The Monster Stack tournament with a $1,500 buy-in will have 15,000 chips and start with 25-25 blinds.

The main event of the series will guarantee a first prize of $10,000,000. Mikhail 'BadSeed' Savinov commented that the changes in the schedule are not significant. Ilya 'ilushan' Gorodetsky expressed concerns about the new schedule, stating it could lead to the ruin of mid-stakes grinders. Alexander 'iskander' Elensky believes that the new $10,000 buy-in events will add prestige to the series.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
