WSOP 2012: Spanish Players Advance to Day 3 with Mixed Results

The WSOP 2012 Day 2C saw a mix of fortunes for Spanish poker players. José Ángel Latorre “Cejakas” was eliminated from the tournament after a series of unfortunate hands. Starting with 93,000 points, “Cejakas” quickly dropped to 70,000 and then to 38,000 after two failed bluffs. His elimination came after folding with a pair of kings following a re-raise and an all-in move by another player with Q T 3 on the board. His final hand saw him lose to a player with A A against T 8 7 on the flop and 9 6 of the same suit in the river.

On the other hand, Rubén Setién “GrinderSPA” had a remarkable comeback. Starting with just 17,000 points (31 blinds), “GrinderSPA” managed to double up with T T against A T, reaching 25,000 points. He continued to climb, surpassing 30,000 points for the first time in the tournament. After dinner, he doubled up again and won several pots, reaching 60,000 points. However, a setback with a pair of aces against J 8 that completed a straight on the flop dropped him to 13,000 points. With optimism and a few good hands, he managed to double up twice more, finishing with 52,600 points.

Joining “GrinderSPA” and “taotattoo” in Day 3 are Juan Maceiras, Javier Etayo, Pablo Rojas “Pableras”, José Manuel Cómez “Rebenaque”, Jordi Martínes Alekhine, Raúl “El toro” Páez, Mikel Allende, Tomeu Gomila “Amatos”, Mario Juste, Juan Manuel Pastor, and Dani Hernández. They will be joined by José María Galindo, Leo Margets, Adrián Soriano, and Alejandro Piñeiro “taotattoo”, who qualified on the previous day.
