WPT Madrid Day 1B: Team Mestre Fights Back with Key Survivors
Team Mestre faced a challenging Day 1B at the WPT National Series Madrid, but key players stepped up to keep the team in the running. Emilio Domínguez “Piokari” and Álvaro Aspas “Darkored” paid the 1,650€ re-entry fee to support their team. However, the day started with setbacks as Marc Rufas “Naager” was eliminated with AK vs. QQ and Emilio Domínguez “Piokari” was eliminated with KQ against AJ.
Despite these losses, Tomeu Gomila “Amatos” became the chipleader provisional of the tournament, adding pressure to Team Mestre. Further eliminations included Ánder Ramírez “Bunbury23” with QQ vs. KK and José María Jiménez “jmbigjoe” with QT against A high. These losses left Team Mestre significantly weakened.
However, Álvaro Aspas “Darkored” and Unai Amelibia “unaiko” managed to survive the day, each adding 5 points to Team Mestre's total. Their survival was crucial as the team prepares for Day 2, hoping to turn the tide in their favor.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
