WPT Legends of Poker: Day 2 Wrap-Up and Notable Moments

The WPT Legends of Poker tournament started on August 20, 2010, in Los Angeles. 462 players registered for the tournament, compared to 279 the previous year. The buy-in for the tournament was reduced from $10,000 to $5,000, which increased the number of participants but decreased the prize pool by 18%.

The first prize for the tournament winner was $750,000. Kathy Liebert played her 100th WPT tournament and has earned $1.75 million in her career, but she was eliminated on the first day. Daniel Negreanu was also eliminated after a notable hand where he sang to his neighbors and then made a significant raise. Allen Cunningham had a successful all-in move against opponents with pocket kings and aces, but his luck ran out later.

Phil Collins, known online as USCphildo, leads the tournament after two days with 898,000 chips. 60 players remain in the tournament, including notable names like Soi Nguyen, Joe Hachem, Erica Schoenberg, Jonathan 'FatalError' Aguiar, and Jonathan Little. The third day of play will continue until the top 27 players are determined.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
