WPT Overhauls Player of the Year Scoring System for 2022 Season

The World Poker Tour (WPT) has announced changes to their Player of the Year scoring system. Every WPT-branded poker tournament will count towards a player’s Player of the Year campaign, excluding invitational and qualifier events. The new system includes WPTDeepStacks events, which are scheduled in places like Amsterdam, Sydney and California.

The new Player of the Year scoring system introduces ten different scoring brackets based on the prize pool of the tournament. The first bracket for scoring includes all tournaments with a prize pool of $500,000 or less. The next bracket is for prize pools from $500,000 to $1,000,000. This continues for prize pools all the way up to $10,000,000, with players earning more points for bigger prize pool tournaments.

A new tiebreaker system has also been put in place. The first tiebreaker is the most titles won, followed by the most final tables, most in the points, and most money won. Steve Aoki, a world-renowned DJ, producer, and brand-builder, is serving as WPT’s new brand ambassador.
