Winning Streaks in Sports Betting: Luck or Skill?
The weekly free tournament of forecasters by GipsyTeam and Pinnacle continues, with a decrease in the number of participants. The winner of the tournament is Вадим, a 29-year-old who lives in Kazan and has been involved in poker for five years. The winner, Вадим, has his own strategy for hockey betting and considers himself lucky for winning the tournament.
Researchers Цзюэминь Сюй and Найджел Харви from University College London studied the phenomenon of winning streaks by analyzing the betting history of over 700 players. The study found that the probability of winning increases with each consecutive win, reaching 0.76 after seven consecutive wins. The probability of winning decreases with each consecutive loss, dropping to 0.23 after seven consecutive losses.
Winners tend to choose lower odds for their next bets, while losers tend to choose higher odds. Players with winning streaks were slightly less successful than those without, losing £1.0078 per pound bet compared to £1.0077.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
