Chinese Poker Player Makes 20 Re-entries in $5,250 Tournament
Wei Zhao, a Chinese poker player, made headlines after attempting 20 re-entries in a $5,250 tournament during the GG Spring Festival. Sasha Lyu, a member of the GG Omaha Squad, shared a screenshot showing the unusual number of re-entries.
Despite his efforts, Wei Zhao did not make it into the prize money. The tournament's prize pool was not the largest, with the first place prize being $126,000. Even if Wei Zhao had won, his profit would have been only $21,000 after accounting for his total buy-ins.
Mike McDonald defended Wei Zhao, stating that he is a good professional and has been a winning player in the past. McDonald mentioned that he has known Wei Zhao since 2015 and that he was a winning player at the $10/$20 limit. Wei Zhao's total career earnings from offline tournaments since 2014 are $422,000, and his online graph on Sharkscope shows a profit of $682,000.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
