Wales Launches Two-Year Program to Prevent Gambling Harm
Public Health Wales (PHW) and the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) have launched a new two-year program focused on raising awareness of the dangers of gambling and preventing harm across Wales. The program covers two years and up to £1.4m funding.
The Gambling Harms Voluntary Sector Grant Fund will include up to £700,000 per year for a two-year period. Eligible organizations, including community interest companies, registered charities, and voluntary groups, can apply for up to £75,000 in funding annually. Applications will be open starting from August 31, 2026, through October 19, 2026. A webinar organized by PHW and WCVA, planned for August 12, 2026, will release additional details.
The program will support voluntary, community, and social enterprise organizations that can deliver gambling harm prevention activities across Wales. It will focus on preventing gambling harm and supporting communities at risk, including people affected by another person’s gambling, individuals who may have faced issues with the criminal justice system, or people impacted by financial hardship. PHW anticipates collaborating with organizations that can work with communities at most risk.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
