Vegas Matt vs. Rob Minnick: The 'Fake Gambler' Controversy
Vegas Matt, a prominent YouTube casino influencer, has clashed with anti-gambling advocate Rob Minnick over accusations of being a 'fake gambler'.
Minnick published a video on July 12, 2026, using Matt’s image and likeness with the thumbnail title 'fake gambler'. In the video, Minnick argued that gambling influencers could introduce the activity to gamblers and make it feel normal. He included selected moments from Matt’s videography, including a $147,000 loss in a single session. Minnick contrasted this with how ordinary gamblers would react to such losses and singled out moments from Matt’s videos in which he spoke about not disclosing his gambling losses to his wife, suggesting that this was trying to normalize gambling in a way that was ultimately harmful.
Matt's legal team sent Minnick a 17-page demand letter asking for the video to be taken down and a public apology to be issued. Minnick refused to comply with the demand and doubled down on his position, stating that the words 'scam' and 'fraud' were derived from gambling-policy advocate Les Bernal, who has argued that gambling is a form of 'consumer financial deception'.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
