Unibet Exits Spain, 'ElkY' Tops Global Poker Index
Unibet has announced the end of its operations in Spain starting from May 14, 2012. The company, which had been promoting poker in Spain with national players including Raúl Mestre, Álvaro Ápsac 'Darkored', Luis Sevilla 'Deilor', Diego Pérez, Aniol Alcaraz, Javier Domínguez 'Thalai', and José Miguel Espinar 'Campa', will no longer offer its services in the country.
In other news, PokerStars players will have the option to opt out of appearing in OfficialPokerRankings statistics starting from May 10, 2012. This move by PokerStars aims to combat 'bumhunting,' where players search for weaker opponents to exploit.
Meanwhile, Bertrand Grospellier 'ElkY' has taken the lead in the Global Poker Index, surpassing Jason Mercier by more than 70 points. This comes after 'ElkY' finished third in the Super High Roller of 100,000€ at the EPT Grand Final.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
