Top Poker Players to Watch at the WSOP 2021

The World Series of Poker 2021 has been underway for a few weeks, and several top players have already made significant impacts. Here are five standout poker players to keep an eye on during this year's event.

Michael Addamo has had an incredible run leading up to the WSOP 2021. He won three events, a second and a third place in PokerGO Tour events, adding $6,108,000 to his winnings. This impressive streak has boosted his confidence and earned him a third bracelet by winning the $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed.

Justin Bonomo, known as Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo, is a modern-day legend of the game. He is currently second on the all-time money list for live tournaments and is known for his fearsome play, especially in high roller events.

Phil Hellmuth has already won 16 bracelets at the WSOP and is highly motivated this year. His recent performances, including a runner-up and fourth place, indicate that he is in particularly hot form.

Phil Ivey is another big name to watch. He confirmed his love for the WSOP and plans to participate in major events when the pandemic allows. Although his exact schedule is unknown, his presence is eagerly anticipated.

Stephen Chidwick is considered by many of his peers to be the best NL Hold’em tournament player in the world today. Despite his quiet demeanor, his skills and achievements speak volumes. Chidwick is another player that is only seen playing the very highest buy-ins these days but still keep an eye out for him as the 32-year-old will be pushing hard to add to his single bracelet tally and move up from seventh in the all-time money list.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
