The Most Consistent MTT Players of the Past Decade

The Card Player POY rating values stability over individual wins, focusing on consistent performance over 12 months. This stability is seen as the most reliable indicator of skill and dedication to tournament poker.

Over the past decade, from 2006 to 2015, 22 players managed to enter the top 200 at least five times, with six players achieving this feat seven or more times. The top spot in the stability rating is shared by Will 'The Thrill' Failla and Justin Bonomo, both known for their consistent performances in MTTs.

Will Failla's best result in the Player of the Year race was 23rd place in 2012, where he won three tournaments and made it to the final table ten times, earning $599,888 in prize money. Over his career, Failla has won $5,003,241, with 18 tournament victories and 183 cashes. His best result was first place in the WPT 2011 Legends of Poker tournament, where he won $758,085.

Justin Bonomo's best result in the Card Player POY race was 7th place in 2013, where he made it to the final table five times in major tournaments. His largest prize was $2,165,217, won in a super-high roller tournament in Monte-Carlo in 2012. Over his career, Bonomo has won $9,690,051, with his most successful years being 2006 to 2014.

Daniel Negreanu, a two-time POY winner in 2004 and 2013, has had four top-50 finishes in the past decade. His total career earnings are $32,315,816, with his second-place finish in the One Drop 2014 tournament contributing over eight million to his earnings.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
