Tom Orpaz Wins €442,440 at EPT Barcelona Super High Roller
Tom Orpaz has taken down the €50,000 Super High Roller Second Chance for a €442,440 payday. Orpaz's live tournament career earnings have surpassed €1 million. Orpaz previously won a €25,000 NL Hold’em event, earning €255,480.
Orpaz defeated notable players including Jean-Noel Thorel, Sam Grafton, Steve O’Dwyer, and Timothy Adams. Gerard Piqué, a football star from Real Madrid, participated in the event and made his seventh live tournament cash, increasing his career total to $738,611.
Speaking after his victory, Orpaz said: “I’ve reached my goal. My goal was to make more than a million dollars in winnings and at least one trophy. I’ve got two of them and at least a million dollars. And we’re still here, right. Of course, it was a good run. I had some good hands, I had some bad hands, I had to adjust my play. I think most of my winnings are in these high roller ones, the 25K, the 50K, even the 10K, where I saw I could adjust towards the other players, the aggression, the bluffs. This is not my job. This is a hobby of mine. I have a job outside of poker. I have businesses. I have different things that I do. But this I do for fun, and sometimes fun pays you money. It’s the challenge to beat the best players in the world. It’s the hardest game in the world. And if you can beat that against the best players in the world, then it’s a good challenge, right.”

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
