Poker Player Tom Hammers Competes in WSOP Ladies Event for Charity

Tom Hammers, a male poker player, enrolled in the WSOP Ladies No-Limit Hold ‘em tournament via late registration. The tournament, which started on Monday, had 644 players. Hammers had to pay a total of $10,000 buy-in while the women, including his wife and daughter, had to only part with $1000.

Hammers pledged that should he cash, all the proceeds will go to women’s charitable causes. However, his tournament life was cut short when his pocket sevens ran to pocket aces. He was eliminated from the tournament and did not make money. Hammers was convinced that his presence in a ladies’ event would help shed some light on the plight of women across the globe, creating awareness on challenges women encounter regularly.
