The Stars Group Sees 27% Revenue Boost Amid Pandemic
The Stars Group, a global leader in online poker, reported a 27% increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2020, amounting to $735 million. This significant boost is attributed to the surge in online poker traffic during the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced many people to stay home.
The company's merger with Flutter Entertainment plc was successfully completed. On April 24, a shareholders' meeting is scheduled to finalize the merger of shares between The Stars Group and Flutter Entertainment. This merger is expected to double the capitalization of The Stars Group, surpassing that of their closest competitors, GVC Holdings.
PokerStars, a subsidiary of The Stars Group, launched its client in Pennsylvania at the end of 2019. The revenue from PokerStars PA and PokerStars NJ pools in the first quarter exceeded expectations, partly due to the BountyBuilder series in February and the SCOOP series in April.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
