The Big Game Poker Show Returns After 12 Years — Here's What to Expect

The Big Game, a beloved poker show, is making a comeback in 2024, 12 years after its cancellation. The show, which originally ran for two seasons before being canceled in 2011 due to the Black Friday controversy, will return with a new format featuring high-stakes games and a unique qualifier known as the Loose Cannon.

Qualifiers for the Loose Cannon were held on November 5, 2023, at the North American Poker Tour (NAPT). The Loose Cannon is a qualifier who, if they manage to keep hold of the bankroll, are allowed to take home any profit they made. Steve Preiss, VP at PokerStars North America, expressed excitement about the return of The Big Game, stating that it was one of the most beloved poker programs of all time.

Auditions for the Loose Cannon qualifiers were held on November 7, 2023, with 20 hopefuls. Two players will be selected to receive $50,000 each to play in The Big Game on Tour. A high-stakes cash game will be held on November 8-9, 2023, featuring top players including Lex Veldhuis. The Big Game on Tour will consist of 10 episodes, to be released in 2024.
