Tanya's Poker Journey: From Novice to Pro in a Few Years

Tanya's introduction to poker was quite unusual. Her brother, who was moving from one apartment to another, stayed with her for a couple of weeks and spent most of his time playing poker on her laptop. Intrigued by the game, Tanya decided to give it a try. Her brother gave her $50 to start playing SNG for $1 and short stack on NL5. Tanya quickly moved from NL10 to NL100 and then to NL200.

Tanya's brother played a significant role in her poker journey. He gave her a flash drive with videos of professional poker players and $100 to start playing 6-max NL10. However, when Tanya lost her initial $150, her brother advised her on bankroll management and encouraged her to learn from her mistakes. Tanya quit her job after her bankroll reached $700 and started playing poker full-time.

Tanya's admiration for Tom Dwan led her to move to Full Tilt Poker after her brother suggested she upgrade her computer. She enjoyed watching his performances on High Stakes Poker and aspired to play like him. However, Tanya struggled with learning from trainers and preferred to play and develop her own strategies. She traveled to Bali, the Philippines, and Thailand to change her environment while playing poker. Tanya had a unique approach to the game, initially avoiding playing AQ due to her brother's advice.
