Tang, Watson, and Yong Triumph at Triton Poker in North Cyprus
In a series of high-stakes poker tournaments, Danny Tang, Mike Watson, and Richard Yong emerged victorious, adding to their impressive poker resumes. The Triton Poker series, held at the Merit Royal Hotel & Casino in Kyrenia, North Cyprus, featured a mix of high-stakes No Limit Hold'em (NLH) Turbo, Pot Limit Omaha (PLO), and Short Deck events.
Danny Tang secured his second Triton title of the year by winning the $50,000 NLH Turbo tournament. His victory came with a $545,000 payout, marking his fourth cash of the Triton Poker SHR North Cyprus stop. Tang defeated Santosh Suvarna in a thrilling heads-up battle. Suvarna, who was seeking his second Triton win, pushed all-in on the turn with a double-gutter but lost against Tang’s top pair. The final hand saw Suvarna with 9♦ 5♠ and Tang with 7♠ 8♠, with the board showing 6♦ 4♣ 8♥ 2♦ Q♠. Suvarna earned $376,000 for his second-place finish.
Next up was the $30,000 buy-in PLO event, where Mike Watson, known as SirWatts, emerged victorious. Watson defeated Andriy Lyubovetskiy in a close match, with the final hand coming in the first big pot of heads-up play. Watson’s hand Q♠ J♦ 7♦ 6♥ prevailed against Lyubovetskiy’s A♦ K♥ J♥ 4♦, with the board showing J♣ 5♠ 2♠ Q♦ 7♠. Watson’s win earned him $347,000, while Lyubovetskiy took home $239,500.
The $25,000 Short Deck Ante-Only tournament saw Richard Yong face off against Chris Brewer for the title. Yong’s hand A♥ 7♠ cracked Brewer’s aces on the river, leading to a monster flop that secured Yong’s victory. The final hand saw Yong’s A♣ Q♣ Q♠ 6♦ 9♦ against Brewer’s J♦ J♣. Yong’s win earned him $323,000, while Brewer took home $222,000.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
