Stanley Choi's AirAsia Investment Boosts Share Value
Hong Kong poker player Stanley Choi has made headlines again, this time for his investment in AirAsia Group. Choi, a prominent figure in the high-stakes poker community, has boosted the airline's share value by up to 16% through his recent investment.
Choi's investment of almost $18million through his private equity vehicle, Positive Bloom Ltd, has increased his stake in AirAsia Group to 8.96%. This move comes as no surprise given Choi's history of successful business ventures and high-stakes poker wins. In 2012, Choi won the Macau High Stakes Challenge Super High Roller tournament, earning a whopping HK$50million.
Choi's business dealings have been at the center of several big stories recently, most notably a scandal involving English football club Wigan Athletic. Choi’s International Entertainment Corporation bought Wigan Athletic in October 2018 and sold them in June 2020 to Next Leader Fund (NLF), a company which Choi was also the majority shareholder of, until he sold it on.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
