Scientific Games CEO Pat McHugh to Retire in September 2026

Scientific Games, a leading global company in retail and digital games, technology, and analytics, is preparing for a significant leadership change. Pat McHugh, who has served as the CEO since 2022, announced his retirement effective September 8, 2026.

McHugh's tenure at Scientific Games spans over two decades, during which he held various strategic senior-level leadership roles. His career in the lottery industry began in 1992 at GTECH, and he joined Scientific Games in 2004 as VP of North American Operations. Over the years, he has played a central role in the company's growth and expansion, securing several leadership positions, including SVP of Global Lottery Systems, President of North America Lottery Systems, and Chief Executive, Lottery Division.

Following his retirement, McHugh will remain with the company in an advisory role as Vice Chair, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership responsibilities. Kevin Schneider, who has over 35 years of executive leadership experience, will serve as Interim CEO until a permanent successor is appointed. The company is already conducting an open search for the best leader to guide Scientific Games through its next phase of growth.
