Dutch Poker Pro Santer Berndsen's Rise to High-Stakes Games

Santer Berndsen, a Dutch poker player, celebrated his 22nd birthday on August 31, 2012. He participated in long poker sessions with Victor Bloom and Phil Galfond in January 2012.

Berndsen grew up in the small town of Loheme in the east of the Netherlands. He started playing poker on Everest Poker with a $10 deposit and won his first $50 by playing two single-table tournaments. He then transitioned to playing heads-up cash games after winning consistently in single-table tournaments.

Berndsen's biggest win was around $400,000 to $500,000 in a single day, mostly against Victor Bloom. His biggest loss was around $300,000 in a single night. Berndsen's favorite online game is hyper-turbo HU SNG at $1,000.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
