Russian Poker Player Marat Wins Big in WCOOP Tournament
Marat, a Russian poker player, recently made headlines by winning 160,000 rubles in a high-stakes tournament with a $5,200 buy-in. Marat works in online advertising and has been playing poker since 2009. His journey to the victory was marked by a series of satellites, where he played several with a buy-in of 40 FPP and won two or three of them.
Marat's strategy involved playing conservatively and avoiding all-ins without a strong hand. He learned poker by observing other players' actions and strategies, which helped him develop his own unique style. He played against mement_mori in the final stages of the satellite tournament, noting that they followed similar trajectories.
During the final table, Marat felt that his performance was not ideal due to technical issues and the aggressive play of his opponents. He mentioned that he was not satisfied with his own game and that other opponents also played imperfectly. Despite these challenges, Marat's strategic approach and a bit of luck led him to victory.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
