Rosa Ochoa: Mexico's iGaming Market Evolves with Challenges and Opportunities
Rosa Ochoa, Founder & Strategic Advisor at Blue Global Gaming, shares her insights on Mexico's evolving iGaming market. She talks about the evolving nature of Mexico's gambling framework, and the measures taken towards strengthening the market.
Mexico has made meaningful progress in strengthening the regulatory oversight of its gaming industry. Licensed operators continue to invest in compliance, technology and responsible gaming measures, demonstrating their commitment to operating within the legal framework. At the same time, offshore operators remain a challenge in many jurisdictions around the world, including Mexico, as they are often able to target consumers without being subject to the same regulatory standards and obligations.
Mexico has become one of the most important gaming markets in Latin America. International operators and suppliers understand Mexico much better today than they did a decade ago. Many now invest in local teams, adapt their commercial strategies and recognize the importance of building long-term relationships. However, many companies still underestimate what it takes to succeed. Localization is not simply about translating a platform into Spanish. It means understanding how players interact with brands, how they prefer to deposit and withdraw funds, what builds credibility, how customer support is delivered and how business relationships are developed in the local market.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
