Robert Campbell: Poker Pro Shares His Journey and Esports Insights
Robert Campbell, the current leader of the WSOP Player of the Year race, has had an interesting journey in the world of poker. Influenced by his grandmother, who played belote, Campbell started playing poker at a young age. His first poker game was Flop the Guts, and he first played hold'em at the Crown Casino.
Campbell's poker career has been marked by significant achievements. This summer, he won two WSOP bracelets: one in the 2-7 Triple Draw event and another in the Stud Hi-Lo Championship. His consistent performance has made him a formidable player in the poker community.
In addition to his poker career, Campbell is also involved in esports. He leads the Filipino team Neon Esports in Dota 2, a role he has held since 2017. Despite his involvement in esports, Campbell does not consider poker to be a part of esports. He believes that poker is a game of his generation, while the current youth is more engaged with games like 'League of Legends' or 'Fortnite'.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
