Québec's Major Parties Support Regulated Online Gaming Ahead of Election
Québec’s two leading political parties, the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) and Parti Québécois (PQ), have both expressed support for regulated online gaming ahead of the October 5 election.
PLQ leader Charles Milliard proposed requiring online gaming platforms to obtain accreditation from the provincial government. The proposal would expand the mandate of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ) to oversee the entire sector, including Loto-Québec. The Liberal proposal would establish an independent, industry-funded organization dedicated to gambling harm prevention and support services.
The PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon described the proposal as “brilliant” during a television interview. The Québec Online Gaming Coalition (QOGC) has welcomed the positions taken by both parties, pointing to Ontario’s regulated market as a potential model for Québec. Ontario generated C$1.26 billion in total gaming revenue during its first full year of operations. The QOGC has argued that Québec could generate at least C$230 million annually from a similar licensing model. The QOGC has also cited a 2025 report from Blask estimating that Loto-Québec accounted for 17% of online gambling activity in the province.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
