Prolific Hotel Room Burglar Caught During 2023 WSOP in Las Vegas

The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has seen record attendances and prizemoney, but it has also attracted unwanted attention from criminals. Robert Black, 44, is accused of burglarizing hotel rooms at the Paris Las Vegas during the event, stealing over $5,000 in a few hours.

The Paris Las Vegas hotel set up a sting operation with a bait room containing a wallet with $600 in bills and hidden cameras. The operation was initiated after numerous guests complained of their rooms being robbed of valuables and cash.

Robert Black was caught on June 2nd, 2023, at 4:40 am, after entering at least six rooms across four floors. He was found with a flathead screwdriver, a Paris room key made out to another guest, US$5,365, and CAD$990. Black faces 19 counts related to the June 2 break-ins, including five counts of residential burglary and one count of attempted residential burglary.
