PokerStatic Interviews Tom Dwan and Daniel Cates for Durrrr Challenge

PokerStatic recently interviewed key participants of the second Durrrr Challenge, providing insights into their strategies and personal anecdotes. Tom Dwan was a guest on the PokerStatic show On The Table. During the interview, Dwan mentioned he plays StarCraft II to pass the time while waiting for poker games.

Daniel Cates was interviewed on Hot Seat by Bret and EB. Cates shared his journey in poker, starting with 6-max cash games and SnG, achieving good results with a tight playing style. He mentioned that his daily profit from one-on-one games was 3-4 times higher than from other games.

Cates advised dropping to limits that do not matter to you during difficult periods. He also discussed his friendship with URnotINdanger2, stating they started playing together in live games and later moved online.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
