PokerStars Unfreezes One Account After U.S. Justice Department Agreement
PokerStars has successfully unfrozen one of its accounts in a Luxembourg bank after negotiations with the U.S. Department of Justice. The account was one of dozens frozen by the U.S. government on April 15, 2011, known as 'Black Friday'.
PokerStars' lawyers reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to unfreeze the account in the Luxembourg bank Hapoalim Luxemburg. The hearing on Full Tilt's license restoration case in the Alderney Commission has been rescheduled to 9 AM on September 19, 2011.
This development comes as a significant step for PokerStars, which has been navigating the challenges posed by the U.S. government's actions since 'Black Friday'. The exact amount unfrozen is not specified, but it is clear that the funds do not include $5.5 million, which was transferred to Luxembourg from U.S. accounts and which the U.S. government sought to repatriate.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
