PokerStars Shutting Down in Ontario to Rebrand with FanDuel
PokerStars is shutting down its platform in Ontario, Canada, on Thursday and will be added to FanDuel Ontario as “PokerStars Exclusively on FanDuel.” The new addition will also affect PokerStars’ online casino and sports betting offerings.
Player accounts will remain accessible on the PokerStars platforms through June 4. Players who haven’t withdrawn by that time will be mailed a check for the remaining funds.
Online gaming, poker, and sports betting are expected to launch in Alberta in July. FanDuel has already been approved for a license in that province.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
