Poker Pros Share Their Thoughts on Stop-Loss Strategies
Professional poker players have varying opinions on the use of stop-loss strategies. Stas I'mLilEazyE, a popular streamer on Twitch, does not use traditional stop-losses. Instead, he divides his gaming session into smaller segments with breaks. He believes that playing non-stop can lead to tilt or G-play, so he takes breaks to maintain his focus and emotional state.
Arhip ButovoEPT, another experienced player, previously used a stop-loss of 3 buy-ins per session and 5 buy-ins per day. However, with more experience, he has shifted his focus to his emotional state during the game. He may end a session early if he feels his play is not optimal, or continue playing if he feels good, regardless of the number of buy-ins lost.
LehichAA, known for her journey from an emotional player to a rational regulator, believes that setting stop-losses can be detrimental. She argues that it creates a goal to lose and continue playing until that goal is reached. She prefers to focus on her mood and takes breaks when she feels tired or tilted.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
