Poker Hall of Fame: Hac Sid Leads Voting, But Controversy Brews
The Poker Hall of Fame voting process this year involved only active members casting votes for a single inductee. Hac Sid received 76 votes, making him the top candidate for induction into the Poker Hall of Fame.
Controversy and Debate
Despite Hac Sid's strong showing, the voting process and criteria for induction have sparked debate among poker professionals. Daniel Negreanu mentioned that Hac Sid should have been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame much earlier than himself, highlighting Sid's significant contributions to the game.
Terence Chen expressed support for Isaac Haxton, who received 45 votes, placing him third in the voting results. However, Chen acknowledged Hac Sid's achievements, including his win at the 1996 World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event, where he became one of the youngest champions at the time. Chen suggested that the Poker Hall of Fame should induct multiple members per year to accommodate the growing number of deserving players, citing the example of Phil Galfond, who might have to wait until he is 54 years old to be inducted.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
