Poker Hall of Fame 2011: Who Will Make the Cut?
The Poker Hall of Fame nomination period for 2011 ran from July 5 to August 14, 2011. During this time, anyone could suggest candidates who met specific criteria, including competing with top players, playing high-stakes games, achieving consistent success, and having a long-term positive impact on poker.
Eric Seidel and Dan Harrington were inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2010. The youngest inductee, Chip Reese, was 40 years old in 1991. Phil Ivey was a favorite in 2010 but withdrew, stating he was too young for the Hall of Fame. Tom Dwan, at 23, received the most votes in 2009 but was deemed too young. The '40-year rule' was officially included in the criteria for 2011.
The 'Black Friday' incident may affect the 2011 induction process. Chris Ferguson has 5 WSOP bracelets and 63 cashes, but his involvement in Full Tilt may hinder his chances. Barry Greenstein has 3 WSOP bracelets, 52 cashes, and is known for his charitable work and poker book 'Ace on the River'. Jennifer Harman has 2 WSOP bracelets and 27 cashes, notable for being a successful woman in a male-dominated field. Linda Johnson is recognized for her contributions to poker journalism and opening doors for women in poker. Tom McEvoy has 4 WSOP bracelets and 43 cashes, known for his champion bracelet and numerous poker books. Daniel Negreanu is considered too young for the Hall of Fame despite his achievements. Scotty Nguyen has 5 WSOP bracelets and 40 cashes, known for his HORSE championship win.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
