Poker Cheating: From Collusion to GTO Solvers
The security service in a poker room plays a crucial role in protecting players from cheating by other players. The more significant the poker room, the more robust the security service needs to be. In smaller rooms, a single employee may handle all security-related issues, while in some cases, there might not be a dedicated security department at all.
Collusion is one of the most common forms of cheating, where two or more players work together, exchanging hole cards, or playing very carefully against each other. This form of cheating is often practiced by novice, weak, and inexperienced players, primarily on low limits. It is relatively easy to detect and eliminate.
Multi-accounting involves one person playing with multiple nicknames or multiple people playing with one nickname. This practice can include creating new nicknames to change affiliates, create a more fortunate or melodious nickname, or double-clean the welcome bonus. The most dangerous form of multi-accounting is ghosting, where an amateur player's nickname is passed to a strong professional.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
