Phillip Mighall has made history by winning the four-day $10,000 WPT Online Championship Main Event, earning a staggering $1,550,298.47. Mighall, a British player, emerged victorious from a field of 1,011 players, securing his first major title and setting a new career-high cash win. Mighall's impressive online winnings now total $3.1 million, with his previous best cash being $101,643. Additionally, he has accumulated slightly more than half a million dollars in lifetime winnings in the live arena.

Starting the final table second in chips, Mighall faced formidable opponents, including Team partypoker pro Dzmitry Urbanovich and legendary high-stakes tournament grinder Bert ‘Girafganger7’ Stevens. Despite the strong competition, Mighall's strategic play and skill led him to victory, earning him the WPT Mike Sexton Champions Cup.

The World Series of Poker also made headlines this summer, attracting 5,801 entries and building a $27.6 million prize pool, the largest ever for an online poker tournament. Stoyan Madanzhiev of Bulgaria won the biggest prize, taking home $3.9 million, which stands as the largest prize ever won in an online poker event. Additionally, PokerStars has made significant changes, withdrawing from the Serbian market and exiting other regions like China, Macau, and Taiwan. The company has been reviewing its regulatory commitments, leading to exits from various markets while also welcoming back players from Slovenia and Slovakia.
