Phil Galfond Wins $730,000 and $250k Sidebet in Epic PLO Challenge

Phil Galfond has once again proven his prowess in Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) poker. In a 5-month-long battle against Chance Kornuth, Galfond won $730,000 and a $250k sidebet. The challenge consisted of 35,000 hands played at a $100/$200 stakes.

Chance Kornuth, the 34-year-old Colorado pro and founder of training site 'Chip Leader Coaching,' described the match as “the biggest poker endeavor I’ve ever undertaken.” Despite being a huge underdog, Kornuth put up a tough fight, exposing weaknesses in Galfond's game that the latter wasn't aware of.

Galfond, who runs RunItOnce, expressed his surprise at Kornuth's skill, stating, “I was very unpleasantly surprised by how well @ChancesCards played. He tested my game in ways no other opponents had, exposing weaknesses I wasn’t aware of, and I’m stronger now for it.” This victory adds to Galfond's impressive record, which includes wins against online beasts VeniVidi1993 and ActionFreak, a mini-match victory over Dan 'Jungleman' Cates, and a $90k lead over Bill Perkins after two sessions of their challenge.
