Phil Galfond and Jason Senti Discuss Poker Strategy in Live Stream

Poker professionals Phil Galfond and Jason Senti recently engaged in a live stream session where they discussed various aspects of poker strategy and hand analysis. The session began with Jason Senti mentioning that he has been focusing on tournaments rather than cash games for the past six months.

One of the key points discussed was the preference between AQ and 99 for a squeeze play with 100BB stacks. Jason Senti expressed his preference for AQ, stating that it is a better choice, especially if there is a possibility of a call. Phil Galfond agreed with this assessment, adding that AQ reduces the likelihood of facing a wide 4-bet range.

Another scenario involved choosing between QJo and 78s when facing a 10.5x 3-bet from an unknown player with 150BB stacks. Jason Senti preferred 78s, explaining that against an unknown player, a tighter 3-bet range is assumed. Phil Galfond concurred, noting that 78s is easier to play against an unknown opponent. They also discussed the importance of considering one's own image at the table when calculating opponent ranges.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
